I was born in Gadsden, Al in 1945, attended Albertville High School (AL), leaving as a junior in 1962 to seek my fortune. Got a GED in 1963 and went on to get a BSE with honors at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

I married Jean Boyd in 1965, and we have one son, Don. I also have a stepson, Bob Majors, We have 6 grandchildren.

I spent my entire Systems Engineering career with one company although its name changed twice: Chemstrand/Monsanto/Solutia. I retired in 1997 at age 52 as Senior Engineering Specialist - Process.

Since retirement Jean and I have travelled a lot, I worked on the 2000 census, was Minister of Education for a Baptist church, spent two years as a part-time rural mail carrier, spent several years as host of a one-hour radio show for Yesterday USA network ("The A-Train" - podcasts are available online ), served as vice-chair for our retirees' association, served as president of our seniors' club at church, and published fifteen articles.

I have completed one sci-fi novel and several short stories, all of which were received cooly by the publishing community. I have recently decided to get back into non-fiction where I have had a least a small amount of success.
